Current and upcoming exhibits.
BEYOND THE FRAME
Beyond the Frame is a photography exhibition that presents the works of six artists – Bill Gore, Colin Harrison, Marcy Juran, Barbara Soares, Jim Stasiak, and Terrence Tougas. The exhibition feasts on diverse image making processes that in some cases stretch the boundaries of the lens-based photographic arts. At the same time the exhibition highlights the conceptual connections as each artist works to reveal layers of interpretation that go beyond what the camera saw.
The six artists meet on a regular basis at the Brookfield Craft Center to share and discus their latest projects. The workshop provides an “open space” to exchange ideas and approaches to image-making that reflect individual experience and perception. Although photographs are often considered documents of real moments in time, the work of this group goes beyond the frame and responds to these turbulent times and our own sense of beauty.
The artists would like to thank The Meetinghouse for hosting this exhibition and the Brookfield Craft Center for supporting the Photography Discussion Group.

In/SIGHT
The exhibition In/SIGHT features a diverse array of work, ranging from collage and portraiture to altered imagery and street photography. In/SIGHT highlights works that go beyond what the camera sees (Sight) to create new and exciting visual experiences (Insight).
For over a decade, the ten exhibiting artists have been meeting every other week to discuss each other’s work, most recently at the Carriage Barn Arts Center. They gather every other Thursday morning for several hours to critique each other’s work, a process that has resulted in numerous group and solo exhibitions, book publications and awards. “We are like a family,” said Torrance York, a nationally recognized artist, and New Canaan resident. “If it weren’t for the support and encouragement of these artists, my journey with my Semaphore work about Parkinson’s would have been very different.”
Also showing work in In/SIGHT are Pam Einarsen (Westport, CT), Bill Gore (Redding, CT), Emily Laux (Westport, CT). Karen Neems (Stamford, CT), Terrence Tougas (Southbury, CT), Dawn Watson (Hastings on Hudson, NY), and Caren Winnall (Riverside, CT).

Images of Far Away
“In my second “career” I have devoted myself to pursuing long time interests in both photography and woodworking. Through my photography I try to capture the more intimate aspects of a place. While I appreciate iconic scenes, I relish the ordinary aspects of day-to-day life wherever I am. My work centers on locality and the imprint of humanity of that space.
